Mansion

Aside from scenic, lush grounds, mansions offer a certain elegance and charm, and depending on which one you spring for, a distinct personality to build on. Take the Milestone Mansion in Denton, which marries Southern style with hints of Coastal qualities, boasting a picturesque pond in the back of the venue and nautical touches throughout the interior. Or the Milestone Mansion in Aubrey, a Georgian-style estate nestled in 52 acres of sprawling countryside. There’s also the striking The Olana estate in Hickory Creek, which rivals the chateaus of France. Originally designed as a residential home for cellphone mogul Alan Goldfield, the estate features soaring, detailed ceilings, light-filled halls and swoon-worthy, lavish chandeliers. “We do not have another venue like that one,” Alex says. “It’s definitely our flagship venue.”

Barn

Few venues have as much personality as a modern-meets-rustic barn – perfect for couples who want a beautiful space with a dose of countryside authenticity. Enter the Morgan Creek in Aubrey, nestled in 52 acres of out-of-the-way, open pasture. “The sunsets there are beautiful after the couples, and there’s some wooded area with oak trees,” Alex says. It’s also the ideal venue for an indoor-outdoor wedding. Ceremonies can start in the fully covered, steel-accented outdoor pavilion, and then, guests can meander inside the whitewashed barn.

European-inspired

You don’t need to travel all the way to Europe to find the grandeur of Versailles or the laidback, sun-washed landscapes of Tuscany. In Mansfield, the Aristide estate embodies the spirit of an 18th century Italian villa, and couples who opt to say their vows there will immediately be charmed by its ivy-colored walls, stone facade and unique interiors. Near Southlake and Grapevine, you’ll find another Tuscan-inspired venue (Aristide Colleyville) with an on-site chapel and courtyard. Other Aristide venues like Flower Mound and McKinney also offer couples a taste of Europe. In The Colony, The Chapel at Ana Villa boasts a reception space outfitted with exposed brick walls and a barrel ceiling, paying homage to Spanish wine cellars. And of course, we’d be remiss not to mention The Olana, which was modeled after the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in Paris and houses a ballroom inspired by Versailles’ Hall of Mirrors.

Light and airy

Leaning slightly more modern than the barn-style offerings, these Walters Wedding Estates’ venues offer a perfect balance between rustic and contemporary. Two Hidden Pines venues in Highland Village and Hurst both channel a Texas hill-country aesthetic, while offering couples a lot of versatility to reimagine the space. “We’ve seen festive, floral, brunch-type events, and then I’ve also seen very formal, black-tie events,” Alex says.

Modern and industrial 

Industrial spaces often flaunt historical charm and a distinct character, which is why they make for unique, story-driven wedding venues. Think: warehouses with high, wood-beam ceilings, old lofts with visible piping and rough-hewn beams. Formerly a late-1800s grocery store, our Monroe Pearson location has all the features of an industrial-modern architectural gem – warm wood floors, exposed brick walls and chandeliers made from Edison lights. “There’s a lot of history with this venue,” Alex says. “And its location is prime; it’s right up the street from Denton square in downtown.”

Nature inspired

Thanks to Texas’ sunny temps, outdoor weddings are a year-round possibility. In the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a handful of Walters Wedding Estates venues offer lush, fairytale-esque backdrops for hosting your nuptials (with the option of being indoors). The Morgan Creek Barn and grounds flaunt acres and acres of gorgeous greenery, and the Wildwood Inn boasts a rustic garden ceremony pergola under a canopy of twinkling string lights.
